      Nursery

The Early Years at Winbury include Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception which is a transition class between the Early Years and Key Stage 1.

Children may join Winbury Nursery Class at any time during the school year, part or full time, upon reaching 2 years of age.

The Kindergarten Class is in the modern Orchard Wing of the Main School and has its own interesting and stimulating outdoor discovery area to promote the imagination of the children as they develop their skills and relationships.  French is also introduced commencing with rhymes and songs.

Our aim in these three classes is to provide a safe and colourful environment where the children can develop in confidence and independence and gain valuable social skills whilst discovering and learning new concepts. They are introduced to  basic skills and experiences in reading, writing and mathematics that will be of benefit to them as they progress through the school. Activities are planned around the six areas of learning and development for children from birth to five following the Early Years  Foundation Stage curriculum.  Many of these activities can take place in our all-weather outdoor learning area.

"Staff provide children with very good opportunities, through effective planning, to develop and extend their physical skills indoors and outdoors. They have access to a range of equipment and resources, which they use with enthusiasm and growing confidence."
